Bettinehoeve
Bettine, a household word in the goat's cheese-loving Netherlands. The Bettinehoeve takes its name from an old Dutch word from the 17th century. In that time "Bettine" was the word for "Goat".
The present owner, Johan Ewijk, started milking 2 goats in 1982. The idea quickly came to make traditional goat’s cheese with this milk. 25 years later in 2007 the Bettinehoeve has developed into a modern cheese factory where 20 million litres of goats milk is processed annually, 1.5 million litres of which is organic goat’s milk. However, Bettinehoeve has managed to maintain the traditional flavour and feel in a unique way.
Bettinehoeve BV is the market leader in the Netherlands with regard to the development, production and sales of fresh goat’s cheese. And it is also starting to establish a footing in Europe, especially after having recently won an international prize with the Bettine Grand Cru.
